Pinehurst #1 - Report and Results

February 8 - 70 degrees in Pinehurst, brought out 26 hickory nuts to play PCC's #1 course.  We played our standard 2 man best ball out of 4 for the team match, as well as low net and low gross for individual scoring.  The winning team with a fine round of 130 went to Thomas Owen, Greg Parks, Lang Willie Engelson, and Bob Georgiade.  Also picking up cash for low front and low back (different teams) were:  Steve Herron, Mike Jones, and the Pfeiffer's - both Sr. and Jr.  The team of Jeff Loh,…See More

Looking for a golf job

Fellow CHGA members, I know this post may push the boundary of what this forum is intended for, but I've reach the point that I must risk a shot at utilizing this 'bulletin board' and ask if any one knows of a shop or a course that wants a club repairman or club fitter near their fairway.  I've worked in golf retail for over 18 years.  Fourteen of those were with Dick's; a couple in my own storefront shop; a couple for Continental (formerly Carolina Custom) Golf.  Even at a small military…See More

High Point - Emerywood Course Hickory Event at Emerywood Club

March 22, 2019 from 10am to 2pm
We will make our first visit to High Point Country Club's Emerywood Club, March 22.  This rediscovered 1923 Donald Ross layout has been lovingly restored and will be perfect for us and our hickories.  The nine hold layout It has nice elevation changes, rolling fairways, and smaller undulating greens. We willl go around 2x.  Seniors, juniors and those new to the game enjoy Emerywood's shorter length. Better players appreciate the opportunity to keep their games sharp on this challenging course. …See More

Hello all and thank you for accepting me into this organization. I have just recently discovered and acquired some hickory golf clubs and have found a new spark for the game of golf with these. Looking for any information and direction as I am in the midst of putting together my first set. Any information and help would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hopefully be involved in future events and getting to know some of you.

Equipment Help

Hello, I just joined the group last night and am looking forward to playing. I love the tradition and history of the game. Does anyone know of a good source of hickory clubs other than the bay? Swap meets etc.. possibly in NC?

Thanks

Evan Mickle

I am overwhelmed by the response to our tragic loss. The outpouring of wishes, food, labor, contributions, etc is beyond comprehension. Thank you all.

An anvil too soon silenced. My son Evan died today. The son any parent would wish for, the husband and father too good to be true, the dedicated farrier all horses dream of, went out to work around his new farm and for no apparent reason just died.

To lose a parent is to lose touch with…

Roaring Gap a Hit Again

Jay Harris once again hosted a wonderful Hickory event at Roaring Gap CC. The course is a treat to pay using hickories and the greens are terrific. Weather was perfect for the 24 players and this is something you should not miss next September. Thanks to Jay for all his efforts.
