"Mt Glen plays well from gold tees for hickories. 6th hole is very short but gives big hits a chance to drive the green (200 yds). Local rule is roll them in fairways as they don’t cut fairways very short! Traps r preferred lies as no rakes!…"

Pine Needles/MidPines to lease and operate the Southern Pines GC

This is big news in the Sandhills as the Bell family was finally able to come to an agreement with the Elks on a lease purchase agreement for this wonderful old D. Ross track.  PN/MP will operate the course effectively immediately.  A lot of work has to be done on the course, cart paths, club house and other amenities.  Still to be determined are membership issues, rates and scheduling. For those of you who have never played SPGC, it is one of the great routings and has always had some of the…See More

Broken shaft

Might have hit 20 balls (35 and 50 compression) with my mashie and the shaft is cracking. What do I do? Buy a new shaft from Louisville golf or rob peter to pay paul? I have another mashie by another club maker. I'd have to plug the pin hole and drill a new one if that is the case. Comments?...

Hello all and thank you for accepting me into this organization. I have just recently discovered and acquired some hickory golf clubs and have found a new spark for the game of golf with these. Looking for any information and direction as I am in the midst of putting together my first set. Any information and help would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hopefully be involved in future events and getting to know some of you.

Equipment Help

Hello, I just joined the group last night and am looking forward to playing. I love the tradition and history of the game. Does anyone know of a good source of hickory clubs other than the bay? Swap meets etc.. possibly in NC?

Thanks

An anvil too soon silenced. My son Evan died today. The son any parent would wish for, the husband and father too good to be true, the dedicated farrier all horses dream of, went out to work around his new farm and for no apparent reason just died.

To lose a parent is to lose touch with…
