MOYE MAXIMUS & LANG WILLIE CLASSIC ReSCHEDULED at Pine Needles GC and MidPines

January 5, 2018 to January 6, 2018
Due to popular demand on these back to back events, we are re setting the Moye Maximus 5 club event and the Lang Willie Classic to Friday/Saturday January 5 and 6.  We have 9:30 tee times both days to give us some flexibility due to any frost delays.  We will hope for better weather than this past weekend.Realize this comes quickly after the NC/VA match, but lots of guys weren't able to get in on that match.  Let's ring in the new year with some hickory golf lads!See More

Carolina Trace Hickory Day at Carolina Trace Country Club

April 13, 2018 all day
We will return to Carolina Trace, Lakes Course after a long sojourn.  The Lakes was redone with Bermuda a couple of years ago, and our host Barry Markowitz has arranged for a great day of golf and lunch for under $50.  The course will also offer attendees a nice comp for return play.  We will shotgun at 9:30, and given the month of April, this should be a great event. See More

Video: "Players as course architect has been horrible for golf"

This short discussion from either the GolfChannel website or http://www.geoffshackelford.com site nails several salient points regarding modern course architecture.  This panel actually makes some sense in the few minutes devoted to the subject.  I urge all those that have concern with the game to view it and then, if so motivated, to please comment to this thread.  All the best to all during this season as the leaves fall, JeffSee More

Hello all and thank you for accepting me into this organization. I have just recently discovered and acquired some hickory golf clubs and have found a new spark for the game of golf with these. Looking for any information and direction as I am in the midst of putting together my first set. Any information and help would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hopefully be involved in future events and getting to know some of you.

Equipment Help

Hello, I just joined the group last night and am looking forward to playing. I love the tradition and history of the game. Does anyone know of a good source of hickory clubs other than the bay? Swap meets etc.. possibly in NC?

Thanks

Evan Mickle

I am overwhelmed by the response to our tragic loss. The outpouring of wishes, food, labor, contributions, etc is beyond comprehension. Thank you all.

An anvil too soon silenced. My son Evan died today. The son any parent would wish for, the husband and father too good to be true, the dedicated farrier all horses dream of, went out to work around his new farm and for no apparent reason just died.

To lose a parent is to lose touch with…

Back injury -- any advice?

While in Scotland, I hurt my back for the first time in my golfing career.  It started suddenly in the lower right back, which put me on the ground, and eventually worked it way across the rest of my lower back. Afterward, I tried to play but couldn't really turn through the ball consistently without feeling sharp pain.  I want to get the back ready for Mid-Pines. So far I have gotten a deep tissue massage, which helped, and will get some more, am taking 800 mg Motrin each, will see an…
