Penrose Park Country Club - Threesomes at Penrose Park Country Club

May 17, 2019 all day
Penrose Park CC in Reidsville, NC will welcome us for the first time to its 1929 Donald Ross 9 hole course.  Reidsville went all out in the building of its course and clubhouse, as the following clearly shows from their archives:Pennrose Park and its beautiful and carefully planned landscape makes a delightful setting for the golf club and is expertly designed nine hole golf links. Stretched over the rolling hills and deep into the deep shaded valleys, the golf course winds in and out of as…See More

The problematic Spade Mashie

Today at a local field I took out my Louisville Spade Mashie (40 degrees loft) and a Tad Moore Tom Morris model Jigger (30 degrees) for a comparison session.  I was somewhat surprised that the Jigger outdistanced the Spade by a good 10 yards carry.      The Spade has a very deep face and a thin profile head.  The Jigger has a shallow face with a thick profile much akin to a Gem style putter.  I figure that the big difference is due to the center of gravity position respectively on the two…See More

Hello all and thank you for accepting me into this organization. I have just recently discovered and acquired some hickory golf clubs and have found a new spark for the game of golf with these. Looking for any information and direction as I am in the midst of putting together my first set. Any information and help would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hopefully be involved in future events and getting to know some of you.

Equipment Help

Hello, I just joined the group last night and am looking forward to playing. I love the tradition and history of the game. Does anyone know of a good source of hickory clubs other than the bay? Swap meets etc.. possibly in NC?

Thanks

Evan Mickle

I am overwhelmed by the response to our tragic loss. The outpouring of wishes, food, labor, contributions, etc is beyond comprehension. Thank you all.

To lose a parent is to lose touch with…

Roaring Gap a Hit Again

Jay Harris once again hosted a wonderful Hickory event at Roaring Gap CC. The course is a treat to pay using hickories and the greens are terrific. Weather was perfect for the 24 players and this is something you should not miss next September. Thanks to Jay for all his efforts.
